Dr. Summers performs eyelid surgeries at Lafayette General Surgical Hospital.  If drooping of the eyelids is interfering with your vision, a blepharoplasty with levator resection can be considered for treatment.  The patient will first need to be evaluated and a test called a ptosis visual field will be performed measuring superior visual field loss.  During surgery, the upper and/or lower eyelids are lifted and loose, or excess, skin and fatty tissue are removed from the eyelids. There is minimal bruising and swelling after eyelid surgery and down time is only a few days.
